YAP Hosts Fellows from Cohen Children's Medical Center
On August 17th, 2011, the Young Autism Program hosted a group of Fellows from Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York at our Medford campus. Dr. Carmel Foley, Chief of Consultation and Liaison in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, has been bringing her first-year Fellows here to DDI for over 10 years to see early, intensive behavioral intervention in action.
Melissa Paladino and Gabrielle Carmody had the opportunity to share information on Autism Spectrum Disorders and evidence-based treatment for young children on the spectrum. After this discussion and a tour of our program, the Fellows left with a better understanding of how they as doctors can assist families in the identification of early signs of autism as well as navigating the maze to access effective treatment for their children.
DDI commends Dr. Foley’s commitment to autism education and appreciates her ongoing efforts to bring up-to-date, accurate information to the Fellows at Cohen Children’s Hospital.
