People playing videos (gamers)

There is considerable research in the field of neuroscience around the impact of gaming and e-sports on cognition. The findings are mixed.

While there is a legitimate concern for addiction, there is also well-documented evidence of enhanced processing, improved concentration and quicker reaction times. Much more than mere entertainment, gaming and e-sports offer a new platform for persons on the spectrum to engage with others in a manner that fosters socialization, confidence and a sense of community.

Join the conversation with Sachem North lead speech pathologist and e-sports advisor Carrie Dansky, and learn how gaming is being expressed in colleges and universities, businesses - and in clinical treatment.

Enjoy!
