Thank you whether you were a donor, served as a blood drive captain, set up for the drive, or came down to show your support -- you all played a big part in achieving our goal…Saving Lives. Our event was a great success.
Forty units of blood were collected from donors. Your generous gift will save lives - 120 lives to be exact.
Besides saving lives, every donor received a New York Blood Center T-Shirt as well as cookies and refreshments. Prizes were also raffled off to 2 lucky donors.
Thousands of men, women, and children need donated blood products each day, and this need could not be met without the dedication of volunteer blood donors. Current processing techniques allow a single blood donation, when separated into components, to help save at least three lives. The area blood supply relies exclusively on the generosity of volunteer blood donors, and according to the New York Blood Center, “There is no substitute for human blood.”
