‘Making Authentic Friendships’ (MAF) is an app designed to help people with special needs find new friends. The app's ‘game’ aspect is designed to be fun, interactive, and something its users will want to return to.
Users actually get to create an avatar of themselves, (similar to a Bitmoji or Mii from the Nintendo Wii). A web version of the app was launched in August, and plans are in place to see it ported to iOS and Android
This is a new ‘safe‘ space for communication and social skills development – with very real-world implications for persons with special needs.
