Maximizing the Benefits of Technology

Through maximizing technology, DDI has been able to have our children and adults remain active and make great strides towards their goals.

Virtual reality, SMART board technology, and video calls are all utilized in our Early Childhood Services Program and Children’s Day Program. We are currently operating a hybrid model of in-person and remote learning. This offers our students the ability to access their education from wherever is optimal for them. Teachers are utilizing SMART board technology to create interactive, fun, and engaging lessons from wherever the student may be.

For our Adult Services Program, they are benefitting from a calendar full of virtual activities. These exciting activities go across multiple disciplines from Art to Science, and even include games and Zumba. For program members that are off-site, these events are crucial to them continuing to feel connected to their friends and our staff.

Virtual Reality headsets are enjoyed by DDI students and residents of all ages! We teach participants in our Adult Services Program and Children’s Residential Program about places around the world while also taking the unfamiliarity out of everyday activities. Thanks to technology, this is all accomplished from the comfort of their home or school.
