Wrapping Veterans in Love & Gratitude

As you step into the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, you're immediately welcomed by smiling, friendly faces. The warmth and light of the place envelop you, making you feel instantly at home, like reuniting with an old friend.

DDI team members Joyce Sullivan, Tracey Ryan and John Maher, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran himself, visited the Veterans home to deliver 33 handmade blankets and quilts created by members of the DDI family. The community's response was overwhelmingly positive—everyone was eager to participate in the project and give back to those who have protected and served our nation.

Students in the Children’s Day Program Art Club joined in the project as well, making thoughtful cards to accompany each blanket. Their personalized messages conveyed true gratitude for the veterans' service.

“Every donation made in support of our Veterans carries a profound impact—a reminder that their service is honored. Your generosity helps create a lasting difference in the lives of those who have given so much for our country,” said Samantha Calandrino, Coordinator of Community Outreach & Volunteer Services for the Veterans home.

A sincere thank you to the DDI family members who answered our call for blankets and lovingly crafted such beautiful items. Your time and efforts are deeply appreciated.

We also extend a special, heartfelt thank you to the Long Island State Veterans and our DDI Veterans for their unwavering service and sacrifice. Your dedication and commitment to our country are truly inspiring.
